Just to show off the Ceredigion coastline - about 3 miles from where I live. The audio is by kind permission of Ogmore Valley Male Voice Choir. http://website.lineone.net/~phildavies/choir.html
I was asked by Sara Jane in the States about the coastline of my part of Wales, as she and her husband are into sailing. I found it hard to put the location maps in... to show the area... the final bit is a speeded up video I screen captured from a Google software - it worked. The background audio is a well know old song Ar Lan y Mor. For those who want a translation - it isn't exactly what's been sung in the second, third english verses... http://www.maxboyce.co.uk/music/lyrics/ar_lan_y_mor.htm
Just magnificient. Zoom to kayak was impressive. What is the camera?
Have you lived in that area all your life? There is nothing like the coast, and that includes Texas!
Hi Barry, Thank you. I did make a couple of errors in making the video, but I couldn't retake the footage without going back etc. I got a pan wrong....
The cameras i used is the PAL version Canon XM1 (GL1 is the NTSC). I fitted a wide angle lens to give more peripheral vision since I capture in 16:9, it works well. The MiniDV camera is getting on a bit now, 9 years old... but is in excellent condition.
I also use a still camera, a Fuji FinePix with 26-300mm zoom lens - it works a treat.
I should have opted to capture to DV avi initially, I didn't for this one. I will next time render from avi to flv.
The Canon has a 20x optical zoom on a 4.2-84 lens as standard. I try an avoid using the digital 100x zoom - just retaining it to check out what I'm looking at sometimes. I only used it in this video to do a little extra to read the "HM CUSTOMS" on the ship and I soon pulled back to max on the optical zoom.
I use a tripod a lot.... without it any zooming would be full of shake. Even touching the camera on the tripod is noticable at max zoom. The tripod I have - bought at a discount that now gobsmacks me is a Manfrotto liquid head and allows the control slide of movement a video camera needs.
I've rattled on... oops
I've lived in the area close to 20 years. What I see... I take for granted... the little sandy beach coves, the caves, the small harbours (lobster and crab fishing). You might have seen the orange bouys below marking where the "pots" were.
